Emotions are often difficult to understand, especially when they feel painful. By giving our emotions a unique physical form - imagining their shape, texture, colour, even personality - we can begin to view them as separate from ourself; something that no longer overwhelms us, but that we can witness.
This creative exercise invites you to observe your emotions and relate to them with greater empathy and compassion. Rather than ‘fix’, push away or shame yourself for, you can approach them with curiosity and care.
Through this process, you will playfully explore what insight this emotion has for you. Think of it as befriending as part of yourself that has been seeking your attention, so that it might share its wisdom with you.
